Groundwater Africa is a consultancy that specialises in groundwater exploration, resource assessment and management. We view groundwater as an integral part of the water cycle, and believe it should be managed in a holistic manner. We are highly experienced in the hydrogeology of fractured aquifers, and our key services include groundwater exploration, resource assessments and management; designing artificial recharge schemes; and developing national policies and strategies in the fields of groundwater and integrated water resource management.

We have offices in Stellenbosch, Umtata and Stutterheim in South Africa. The company is jointly owned by Dr. Ricky Murray and Mr Dumisani Gqiba, who together bring over thirty years of hydrogeological experience from the consulting, NGO and applied research sectors.

In 2005 the company merged with Mgwali Water cc, founded by, Mr Dumisani Gqiba. The trading name Groundwater Africa was maintained for this new BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) company.
